Tour of Duty: Kota Bharu

So, if you’ve been following me on Twitter, you would have known that I’ve just returned from the far north of Peninsular Malaysia, in a town called Kota Bharu, the capital city of the Malaysian state of Kelantan.

It would be my first time in Kelantan so you know how it is always exciting to come to a new place for the first time. Getting to Kota Bharu had proved to be not an easy task as I had to go through an 8-hours long drive, probably the longest road trip that I had even been on in the Malaysian Peninsular thus far. Revisiting Chatuchak Market

We went to Chatuchak Market on our third day in Bangkok. We were lucky because it had only been re-opened less than a week after a few weeks of closure due to the floods in the area.Chatuchak Market had not really changed much from the last time I went there. OF course now that it is fully operational (again), people – both locals and tourists alike – come here in hordes to buy just about anything there is for grab. Continue reading

Reflecting Back on 2011

So – 2011 happened to be another eventful year for me. So many things happened in my life within that period of 12 months I don’t think I can ever go details about them.So reversing back to the beginning of the year, my life suddenly took a major turn when I got transferred to KL after spending the last 5 years or so in my homeland of Sabah. Oh well, I think I’ve been open about admitting how I like city life – I mean BIG city life – so I actually took the transfer offer with open arms. I like Sabah and all the towns and the cities that it has, there’s no doubt about it but I guess that little nemo that I once was has grown up too big now that it needs a bigger aquarium.
