Thinking that we only had like one night in Agra \u2013 or probably two if we really really had to \u2013 we had to choose between viewing the Taj Mahal during the sunset or waiting until the next morning and view it at the sunrise. Skipping the sunset and opting for the sunrise might be quite risky because there was no way of telling how the weather was going to be like the next morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But then, there is a saying that the <strong>Taj Mahal is like a beautiful girl whose beauty is one that cannot be cheated<\/strong>. It doesn\u2019t matter what time of the day will you see her \u2013 she will always be beautiful. We decided to see her during the sunset. \ud83d\ude42<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050106.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1702\" title=\"walking towards the gate of taj mahal \" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050106.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><!--more-->Taj Mahal might be one of the most expensive places to visit in India. The normal entrance fee to most <strong>UNESCO World Heritage Sites<\/strong> in India is 250 rupees (RM16.70\/USD5.60) but being SO famous as it is, Taj Mahal requires you to fish some <strong>750 rupees (RM50\/USD16.70)<\/strong> out of your tight pocket just for a SINGLE entry. Once you\u2019re out, the ticket is considered invalid and you have to purchase a new one if you wish to go in there again at another time of the day.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050107.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1700\" title=\"Ticket booth to Taj Mahal \" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050107.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>Of course, being the most treasured building in India, you\u2019d have to expect some tight security at the entrance. They\u2019d do you a body-scan and body search and they even check your bags out just in case you\u2019ve had enough of life and decided to blow yourself up inside the Taj Mahal. He.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050311.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1703\" title=\"security check at taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050311.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>Taj Mahal really knows how to put its visitors into a momentary state of suspense. It wouldn\u2019t let you see it right away but you gotta go through another gate \u2013 which is already so beautiful itself \u2013 before you can see IT ALL.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050319.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1704\" title=\"gate to taj mahal \" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050319.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>It is right after you go through this gate when you see the stunning beauty of the Taj Mahal. I remember how I thought I was looking at a picture postcard or something when I first saw it. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050325.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1705\" title=\"picture postcard\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050325.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>The view of Taj Mahal was so unbelievable that for a moment I just stood there gazing and trying to convince myself that it was real and most importantly I was there for real! LOLz.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050332.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1740\" title=\"me taking picture with taj mahal in the background\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050332.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"552\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a>You know\u2026 they\u2019ve been a lot of arguments about the perfect list for the <a title=\"The New Seven Wonders of The World\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_Seven_Wonders_of_the_World\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Seven Wonders of the World<\/strong><\/a> and it has been changed time and time again but one thing for sure is that \u2013 the list would never be complete without the Taj Mahal in it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I actually tried to think of a perfect word to describe the Taj Mahal or at least the view of it from where I was standing but there was none. In the end, I came up with <em>\u2018unwavering\u2019<\/em>. Yeah, I think that was my perfect word for it.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050330.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1706\" title=\"seven wonders of the world\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050330.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>It was so geometrically perfect, and it was the verticality of the whole structure that made me awed in deep amazement. I could almost the fine lines \u2013 so horizontal and so vertical \u2013 which made the Taj Mahal look almost like a painting or something. It was so surreal and yet so real &#8211; whatever that means. LOLz.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050360.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1741\" title=\"the surreal taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050360.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>Taj Mahal for sure is a tourist magnet. You can\u2019t expect it to be deserted with people so that you can have the whole building and its surroundings to yourself at least in a picture \u2013 unless, of course, you were <a title=\"Taj is Calling\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/?p=1223\" target=\"_blank\">once married to the Prince of Wales<\/a>. I went there almost choked to death with the presence of so many people although a majority of them were actually Indian citizen (since \u2018locals\u2019 doesn\u2019t sound right for a country as big as India).<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050336.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1708\" title=\"crowded taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050336.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>But then, they sure deserve to come here and see for themselves how <em>insensitive<\/em> (there gotta be a stronger word) their emperors had been in the past for splashing so much money over a <del>damn stupid<\/del> mausoleum when people were suffering and hungry and so stricken with poverty just on the other side of the walls. And they still are actually &#8211; most of them. Huhu. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050337.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1707\" title=\"verticality of taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050337.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>Coming from all corners of India, who knows if some might have come from as far as the Himalayan part of the country, it is quite understandable that many of the Indian visitors to Taj Mahal might never had seen anything white and yellow and probably brown for a human skin. Right from the beginning, we were already getting rare attention from the people and although it was quite uncomfortable at first, I have to admit that I was actually beginning to enjoy it after awhile. \ud83d\ude1b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050320.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1743\" title=\"rare attention at taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050320.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"544\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a>I mean, seriously. The attention was too obvious to ignore. Imagine the stares and the curious looks and the giggles the whispers. Some of them would even pretend like taking photos of the view with their hand phones when they were actually aiming to get our <em>yellow<\/em> mugs in the pictures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Of course some of them couldn\u2019t contain the excitement of getting somebody with an alien color in their pictures \u2013 probably to be shown and become the laughing stock to their friends and relatives back in their kampongs. They\u2019d come to us and ask to be photographed with us and of course, being the fairer half of the pair, it was Audrey who got more of the attention right from the beginning. \ud83d\ude00<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050518.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1709\" title=\"people taking photos with audrey\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050518.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>So people, if you\u2019re white or yellow or probably brown and you want to know how it feels like to be an instant celebrity, go to Taj Mahal. If ATTENTION was the keyword, you\u2019d probably get more of it than you had hoped for. \ud83d\ude00<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050517.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1710\" title=\"guys taking photo with me\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050517.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>People have varied perspectives and reactions about the Taj Mahal. Some people look at is as something of a symbol to a great love based on the story of how it was created. Some people use it as a reason to<a title=\"Bitch?\" href=\"http:\/\/fooyoh.com\/iamchiq_living_lifestyle\/5840158\" target=\"_blank\"> convert to Muslim and marry a rich man<\/a> and if they are lucky, people might stop calling them bitch. <em>&lt;Idontbuyit<\/em>&gt;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050464.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1738\" title=\"the mosque at taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050464.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>If I were born in the Munghal era, I would have seen it as something deem unnecessary. But then the emperor is at least giving something back to its people by bringing in millions of tourists to Taj Mahal every year \u2013 although we can\u2019t tell for sure if the money garnered through them would in any way reach the people.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050367.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1711\" title=\"looking up to taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050367.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"310\" \/><\/a>Getting into the veranda and beyond requires you to take your shoes off so bringing a bag and probably a pair of socks might be a good idea.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050371.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1712\" title=\"shoes outside taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050371.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"321\" height=\"482\" \/><\/a>It was already 5pm when we went there and the marble floor was still burning under my feet so I could only imagine how stupid it is for anybody to go there in the middle of the day.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050372.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1713\" title=\"shoe wrapper to taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050372.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>Of course, just as it is with any other iconic building in the world, Taj Mahal might have been built to be visualized as a whole and viewed from a distance and not quite up close when you are beginning to see less of the beauty and more of the <del>ugliness<\/del> defects and all. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050427.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1714\" title=\"cracks at taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050427.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"329\" height=\"495\" \/><\/a>I wouldn\u2019t say that the carvings (if they are even called carvings) at the Taj Mahal are the most fantastic at least amongst the ones that I\u2019ve seen so far because I\u2019m pretty sure I\u2019ve seen more beautiful, more intricate ones somewhere else before.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050382.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1717\" title=\"carvings at taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050382.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>I think the architectural superiority of the Taj Mahal lies mostly on the fact that it is made out of white marble that glows and glistens in reflection of the sun (and probably the moon at night). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050456.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1718\" title=\"glistening taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050456.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>The calligraphy and plant motifs that dominate most of the outer walls had certainly required extraordinary sculpturing skills when they were made although I\u2019m pretty sure they can easily be copied by many modern sculptors nowadays.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050396.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1719\" title=\"plant motifs at taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050396.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>Most people are curious more about what it is INSIDE the Taj Mahal than anything else. Oh well, curious no more. Inside the Taj Mahal lie the tombs of Shah Jahan and his wife. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050380.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1724\" title=\"entering taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050380.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"321\" height=\"482\" \/><\/a>Of course, it was Shah Jahan who commissioned the construction of the Taj Mahal and it was his wife whom he had commissioned the construction for. Please don&#8217;t ask me who died first.\u00a0 Grrrrr. Hehe. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050433.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1725\" title=\"the tombs\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050433.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"321\" height=\"482\" \/><\/a>Since photography is not allowed inside the mausoleum, I\u2019m afraid I\u2019ve got no pictures to show to you. We came in through the front entrance and came out through the rear exit. The rear part of the building faces down to the <strong>Yamuna River.<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050441.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1726\" title=\"facing down to yamuna river\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050441.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>Of course, a mausoleum no matter how beautiful it is doesn\u2019t offer much to you apart from the opportunity to gaze at it for as long as you want. The gate closes at 7pm so you\u2019ve got plenty of time to do just that.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050505.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1727\" title=\"lepaking at taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050505.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>You\u2019ve more than enough time to camwhore and see for yourself how big your nostrils are with the Taj Mahal <em>somewhere<\/em> in the background. LOL. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050473.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1728\" title=\"camwhoring at taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050473.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>Do not believe with all the stories about watching the Taj Mahal at night because they don\u2019t switch the lights on (at night) so there\u2019s no point of staying back and watch it in the dark. We had at least one last mission before we could offer a good bye to the great Taj Mahal and believe me, it wasn\u2019t an easy one.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050423.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1729\" title=\"darkening taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050423.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"366\" height=\"550\" \/><\/a>We had to compete with the so-called &#8216;licensed photographers&#8217; who seemed to grab just about everybody that comes their way and get them pictured on this seat right here so that they can sell it (the picture) to them later.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050592.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1731\" title=\"senyum kambing in front of taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050592.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>I had to admire Audrey for her patience and persistence in getting a slot of taking our pictures here despite the sneering looks from those photographers. But then, it was paid off pretty much dearly. It turned out to be one of my favorite pictures in Agra. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The sky was darkening over Agra when we made our way out into the streets again.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050599.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1732\" title=\"darkening street out of taj mahal\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050599.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There were a lot of shops selling all sorts of marble-made stuff but thinking that I already had more than enough KGs in my backpack, I had to refrain from buying any of them.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050601.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1777\" title=\"marble stuffs\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050601.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>But of course, there&#8217;s always room for some fridge magnets. \ud83d\ude42<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050606.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1733\" title=\"fridge magnets\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050606.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>The vendors might be closing shops but business seemed to continue for this group of pigs. They seemed to scavenge every bit of the large pile of trash as if it was going to be gone anytime soon. \u00a0You should then see by now why they are called <a title=\"Najis\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Najis\" target=\"_blank\"><em>najis<\/em><\/a> by\u00a0 the Muslim. Holy shit &#8211; I&#8217;ve been eating shit all my life. LOLz. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050613.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1734\" title=\"pigs scavenging trash\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/P1050613.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a>WE spent our only night in Agra by walking around town and of course \u2013 interacting with the friendly locals a bit. If there was something that Agra could teach you with, it would be to eat and drink in the dark.
