I put my past life as a biker into full use again when I went there. The moment I started the engine, it was when the real adventure began. I wasn\u2019t sure why we were there considering how we had quite a fair share of exactly the same monkeys here in Malaysia. They were even exactly the kind of monkeys that you\u2019d see jumping on people at the<strong> Batu Caves<\/strong> or even seen competing for bananas with the usually outnumbered Urang Utans in <a href=\"http:\/\/jipp-world.blogspot.com\/2009\/12\/let-these-hairy-beasts-live-sepilok.html\"><strong>Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center<\/strong><\/a> in Sandakan.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000196.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-280\" title=\"Mother Monkey &amp; Son Monkey at Monkey Forest\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000196.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000196.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000196-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a>But of course, monkeys are monkeys. They\u2019ll never fail to entertain you with their monkey-ness. They seemed adorable and cuddly, snuggly and sometimes hUgly. I wouldn&#39;t fall for that. You just want banana.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despite the continuous stream of visitors coming in and out of Monkey Forest, most of the monkeys would go about their own businesses in total oblivion of the passing humans. Some of them tend to be more attentive than you probably want them to be. The OFFICIAL bananas could be bought at both entries to the forest. I didn&#8217;t even know there was such thing as official bananas. Entry to most temples in Bali requires proper dressing. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000328.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-293\" title=\"Regulations at Bali Temples\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000328.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"373\" height=\"560\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000328.jpg 533w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000328-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 373px) 100vw, 373px\" \/><\/a>Most temples provide sarongs for free at the entrance so you don\u2019t really have to wrap up yourself in thick pants or <em>kebaya<\/em> when you\u2019re walking around Bali. They even help you put them on. In fact, it looks more like those temples that you\u2019d see at many villages all over Bali. It&#8217;s not even funny. \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our next destination was the Ubud Market. We were told by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/?p=168\">karma taxi driver<\/a> that Ubud Market is the best place to do shopping in Bali.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000310.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-294\" title=\"Ubud Market 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000310.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000310.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000310-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a>Ubud Market is located right in the centre of Ubud Town. You can\u2019t miss it when you go there. It\u2019s not really a big market \u2013 you can probably cover the whole of it in less than an hour, depending on your \u2018degree of fussiness\u2019 \u2013 or sex if you might agree. You know how consumerism concept is universal. They\u2019d call it <strong>\u2018pelaris\u2019<\/strong> \u2013 a belief (or rather their tool of forcing you to buy) that it TAKES SOMEBODY to buy something in order to get more people to buy things from them for the day.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000303.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-320\" title=\"Ubud Market 11\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000303.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000303.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/P1000303-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a>So, they want you to be that somebody. The problem is, they want somebody after somebody and even after 10 people have already bought things from them, they\u2019d still somebody to buy something as a \u2018pelaris\u2019. Ulai was all ready to claw her nail-less fists at a lady vendor who called her \u2018brengsek\u2019 I had to stop her before she commanded unnecessary attention from the public. Here in Ubud Market, I\u2019ve come to find out that it\u2019s much easier to deal with the male vendors than the majority females. Beer should be banned here! It tends to make people procrastinate!), I held my hands up and told Ulai that the time was up. I even had my first taste of <strong>Bintang Beer<\/strong> \u2013 Indonesian locally-produced beer, and I gotta say it wasn\u2019t bad at all.
