Instead, we <a style=\"border-bottom: medium dotted; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"Search Link by Surf Canyon\" href=\"http:\/\/www.surfcanyon.com\/search?f=sl&amp;q=flagged%20down&amp;partner=wtiffrwa\" target=\"scSearchLink\">flagged down<\/a> a Tuk Tuk and asked to be sent to <a style=\"border-bottom: medium dotted; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"Search Link by Surf Canyon\" href=\"http:\/\/www.surfcanyon.com\/search?f=sl&amp;q=The%20Connaught&amp;partner=wtiffrwa\" target=\"scSearchLink\">The Connaught<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070684-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4758\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4758 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"Tuk Tuk to The Connaught\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070684.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070684.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070684-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a style=\"border-bottom: medium dotted; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"Search Link by Surf Canyon\" href=\"http:\/\/www.surfcanyon.com\/search?f=sl&amp;q=The%20Connaught&amp;partner=wtiffrwa\" target=\"scSearchLink\">The Connaught<\/a> as seen on the Google Map looks more like a coliseum with a patio in the middle. In real, it is actually a cluster of shop lots with beautiful French architecture arranged to form a round circle with a huge park in the middle.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">New Delhi might be a bazaar city but you wouldn\u2019t really see any of those over sized shopping malls that we are so pampered with here in KL &#8211; at least not in the areas that I went to.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070685\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4759\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4759 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"Crossing the road at Connaught\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070685.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070685.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070685-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Most of the things that they sell at bazaars in Delhi are of those bundle types so forget about scooping in a whole bundle of original Prada or Gucci bags into your luggage and boast about them when you come back to your home country later.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first thing that caught our attention the moment we got off the Tuk Tuk was the <strong>big yellow M<\/strong> that glowed so invitingly over a backdrop of red.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070686\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4760\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4760 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"McDonald's!\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070686.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070686.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070686-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>McDonald\u2019s!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We had never been so happy to see a big M that suddenly came into existence at a place that we had least expected.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After tolerating myself with all the spicy and heavily-curried foods since we set foot in India about a week or so ago, it was so good to see a McDonald\u2019s again especially after we were disappointed by the one that we found in <strong><a title=\"JAIPUR - The Pink City\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2011\/09\/jaipur-the-city-full-of-surprises\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jaipur<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070698\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4761\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4761 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"happy me at mc donalds connaught\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070698.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070698.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070698-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One thing you gotta know about McDonald\u2019s in New Delhi or probably the whole of India is that, they don\u2019t serve Big Mac or anything with beef.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>You know how India is heavily Hindu and that eating a cow in Hindu is like eating your own mother or something. It is considered a holy animal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Instead, they kicked Big Mac out of the menu and replaced it with a <strong>Chicken Maharaja-Mac. <\/strong>But then, if you think you can escape curry by coming to McDonald\u2019s in India, think again.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even the color already tells it all. I did not particularly like it, probably because I had had enough of curry and there were smells of ingredients that didn\u2019t quite go well with my taste buds at that point in time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070697\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4762\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4762 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"Chicken maharaja mac burger\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070697.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070697.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070697-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So, after gobbling down the foods like there was no tomorrow, we trailed along the blocks of shops to see if there was anything at least worthy to check out and to stop by for.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>FATE seemed to have brought us to The Connaught when most of the shops were having SALES.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Connaught might be the place in New Delhi with the most number of sports shops all concentrated in one small area so being so-called avid runners ourselves, we couldn\u2019t be happier to see there were sales all over.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070710\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4764\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4764 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"Sales at connaught delhi\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070710.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070710.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070710-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I\u2019ve been trying to find a pair of<strong> Adidas running tights<\/strong> at an affordable price in KL for quite some time but quite every time I looked at the price I\u2019d question myself if it really was worth it. I\u2019ve never seen any of them with a price of less than a hundred bucks so the answer always came back as NO.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here at The Connaught I found one priced at about RM50 after discount so \u2013 there was no way I would ever let it go off my hand or I\u2019d go back to Malaysia and spend the rest of my life feeling sorry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070705\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4765\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4765 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"adidas running tights\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070705.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070705.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070705-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the end, me and my travel buddy Audrey had our own share of purchases so never mind the holes in our pockets, the evening had never really gone wasted. We were both happy so that was the only thing that mattered to us at least at that point in time. LOL!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070712\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4781\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4781 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"Me and shopped goods\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070712.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070712.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070712-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We continued strolling, making a complete circle around and stopping here and there along the way to see whatever there was to see.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Connaught seemed to be a place of great escape from the bustling streets and smothering crowds and of course the burning hot sun of Delhi which was at its most intense since it was July.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I love Delhi people, there\u2019s no doubt about it. For me they are some of the most wonderful people that I\u2019ve ever met in all my travel trips so far but there are times when I just want to go somewhere where I can have a little bit of space away from all the people or even the sight of them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070714\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4767\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4767 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"audrey strolling at connaught\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070714.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070714.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070714-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There seemed to be much lesser people at The Connaught, probably because it was more like a place for the middle\/upper-class which was evidenced by the way they dressed and carried themselves. They looked \u2013 modern and somehow prosperous contrasting to most people that I see on other streets of New Delhi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here and there we\u2019d come across a spread of books being sold at very reasonable prices. I was both amused and impressed to see that most of them were motivational books. For me, it was reflective to the fact that there\u2019s always hope for life improvement and better future for the people of India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070721\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4769\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4769 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"books on sale at connaught delhi\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070721.jpg\" width=\"298\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070721.jpg 426w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070721-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the books that caught my eyes had <strong>STAY HUNGRY, STAY FOOLISH<\/strong> as its title. I had almost bought it but the idea of having to pay extra for extra luggage had prompted me to put it back to where it had been.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>It would be long after I came back to KL that I found out how famous the book is &#8211; for it was the book that inspired the late Steve Jobs to do so well in his career and life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/think-shopping-think-the-connaught\/p1070720\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4770\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4770 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"Stay hungry stay foolish\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070720.jpg\" width=\"298\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070720.jpg 426w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1070720-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So, after making a full circle around at the Connaught, we flagged a Tuk Tuk down and asked to be sent back to reality, to <a title=\"Pahar Ganj: The Place to Head to in Delhi\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2011\/11\/pahar-ganj-the-place-to-head-to-in-new-delhi\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Pahar Ganj<\/strong><\/a> where our hotel was located.
