We went there as part of the Mini Tour together with the grand Angkor Wat itself.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5407\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5407\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/07\/visiting-bayon-ta-prohm-temples\/p1110833\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5407\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5407\" title=\"P1110833\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1110833.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1110833.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1110833-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5407\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When I first arrived and walked around the temple of Bayon, I realized instantly that there was something about it that was uniquely different from the other temples in Angkor Wat.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Somehow it appeared to be so ALIVE probably because it has those faces. To tell the truth, I don\u2019t really remember most of their names but one thing for sure is that they all look so ancient. If I had to name one, I\u2019d say the<strong> Leper King Terrance<\/strong> stands out prominently probably because I really liked the carvings of sitting gods and goddesses on its walls.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of them glow luminously in pink, or rather orange, as if they are ready to rise and walk off the walls any time any minute.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5392\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5392\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/07\/visiting-bayon-ta-prohm-temples\/p1150572-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5392\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5392\" title=\"P1150572\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11505721.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11505721.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11505721-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11505721-120x80.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5392\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Just across the road from The Leper King Terrace was what appeared to be a cluster of food stalls \u2013 or rather wooden restaurants canopied under the lush greenery of leafy trees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Tuk Tuk driver actually gave us the option of going somewhere else, probably in some lesser touristy area where foods were expected to be cheaper but one of the restaurant staffs was fast to approach and offered to serve us with meals at a discounted (and reasonable) price.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cI\u2019ll give you the best price but please don\u2019t tell the others\u201d, she whispered conspiratorially in a lowered voice.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">LOL! So typical of restaurant agents as I call them. Haha! Gulp!)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was 4 pm when we finally had (almost) all the temples covered. Of course we would never leave Angkor Wat without going to what is now considered one of the most iconic trees in the world \u2013 thanks to <strong>Angeline Jolie<\/strong> for making it so famous after it was featured in her movie\u00a0<strong>Lara Croft: The Tomb Raider.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5397\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5397\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/07\/visiting-bayon-ta-prohm-temples\/p1150605-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5397\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5397\" title=\"P1150605\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11506051.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11506051.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11506051-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11506051-120x80.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5397\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Taking a picture in front of the tree had proved to be not an easy task as I later found out. Most of the tourists who are there on tour packages would be brought there just to take pictures in front of the tree so it attracts quite a bit of a crowd all day long.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5448\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5448\" style=\"width: 345px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/07\/visiting-bayon-ta-prohm-temples\/p1150619\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5448\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5448  \" title=\"P1150619\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1150619.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"345\" height=\"518\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1150619.jpg 426w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1150619-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 345px) 100vw, 345px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5448\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They have set up a wooden platform on which you can stand and take photo with the tree right behind your back but there was a big crowd of people all wanting to take photo so everybody was expected to do it quickly. Of course a <em>kiasu<\/em> can always find his way in. \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5394\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5394\" style=\"width: 345px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2012\/07\/visiting-bayon-ta-prohm-temples\/p1150623-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5394\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5394 \" title=\"P1150623\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11506231.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"345\" height=\"518\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11506231.jpg 426w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P11506231-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 345px) 100vw, 345px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5394\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The trees and their reptile-looking roots might be the temple\u2019s most distinctive feature now but the fact that they are living things that continue to grow worries a lot of Ta Prohm\u2019s enthusiasts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The trees might be famous for where they are now but there are growing concerns over their detrimental effects on the structures so sooner or later they\u2019d have to be removed..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">.. Seriously, it was the most piteous voice that I\u2019d ever heard in my entire life. She kept tagging behind us \u2013 to Ulai especially \u2013 from one end of the temple right to the other and continued to beg, half-crying.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u201cOne dollar miss. One dollar.. Please..\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1 dollar. Come to think of it now, it was only RM3 something. What was so hard about letting go of RM3? She could be starving. Her whole family could be starving too. I imagine her mother\u2019s utter disappointment when she came home empty-handed. They\u2019d go to sleep that night with an empty stomach. She didn\u2019t buy anything from the girl. Not a single thing. Nil. Nada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>One dollar.. \ud83d\ude00<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was a perfect ending nevertheless. We came in through the entrance and exited at a beautiful gate on the other end of the temple and found out that we were back in the open. The relaxing view, soothing atmosphere and the refreshing air that comes with it \u2013 those are the things that are very hard to come by nowadays.
