It was so hard that we were so glad that we didn\u2019t have to bring our backpacks since we were going back down to the camping site instead of camping at the peak like most climbers would (used to) do.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6991\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6991\" style=\"width: 342px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6991\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/mount-trus-madi-up-to-the-peak\/p1260797\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6991 \" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"P1260797\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260797.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"342\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260797.jpg 427w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260797-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 342px) 100vw, 342px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6991\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">So near yet so far .. The peak is the one at the further back o.O<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But it was also one of the most beautiful forests that I\u2019ve ever been to really. We were there during the rainy season of the year when all the plants were in full bloom. Most of the ground and the tree trunks were covered in thick green carpet-like mosses so we really were trekking through such a beautiful surrounding.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6984\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/mount-trus-madi-up-to-the-peak\/p1260697\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6984 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"P1260697\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260697.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"346\" height=\"518\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260697.jpg 427w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260697-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 346px) 100vw, 346px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The forest was so thick and mysterious and sometimes engulfed in thick fog which made the whole surrounding look even more mystical. Whoever it was who had first found the trail must be a genius. I don\u2019t think I\u2019d survive through 24 hours if I were to be thrown into the forest back then when the trail was not even there yet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6985\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/mount-trus-madi-up-to-the-peak\/p1260767\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6985 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"P1260767\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260767.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"346\" height=\"518\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260767.jpg 427w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260767-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 346px) 100vw, 346px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was so beautiful that I felt like I was walking in the middle of some movie set for <strong>The Lord of the Ring<\/strong> or something and half of me actually expected that the trees would \u2018wake up\u2019 and move in on me any time any minute. Whatever they\u2019d do to me doesn\u2019t matter. I just wanted to embrace it all. LOL.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6986\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/mount-trus-madi-up-to-the-peak\/p1260812\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6986 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"P1260812\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260812.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"342\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260812.jpg 427w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260812-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 342px) 100vw, 342px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One thing that I could not help noticing was the existence of so many beautiful orchids and <strong>pitcher plants (Nepenthes)<\/strong> that grow (and die) so abundantly all over along the way. They come in different species and sizes and some of them are even bigger than my wrist.\u00a0 The porters told us that they could be of great use if we ran out of drinking water provided that they were still sealed and the water inside them was still intact.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6987\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/mount-trus-madi-up-to-the-peak\/p1260796\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6987  aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"P1260796\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260796.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260796.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260796-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1260796-120x80.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After such a grueling uphill and downhill trekking, which among others involved ducking through tree trunks, balancing on a log and wall-climbing with the help of a rope, we finally managed to reach the peak \u2013 all of us. It was by then half an hour past midday so the whole of Trus Madi was ensnared in thick cloud and hence visibility was limited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6988\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/mount-trus-madi-up-to-the-peak\/p1270027\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6988 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"P1270027\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270027.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270027.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270027-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270027-120x80.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There was nothing much to see at the peak but then again it really wasn\u2019t all about the destination but more on the journey itself. Just to think that we were at the top of the second tallest mountain in Malaysia made the whole experience so much rewarding. I was told that we could actually see Mount Kinabalu if the view was clear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6989\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/mount-trus-madi-up-to-the-peak\/p1270037\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6989 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"P1270037\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270037.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270037.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270037-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270037-120x80.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After having our meal at the peak, we trekked back to the camp, expecting a <em>mo man tai<\/em> descending journey. But again we were surprised to find out that it wasn\u2019t that easy either. The fact that it was rainy season made the trail so muddy and slippery and each of us had in the end had our own share of ass-bumping experiences. I myself slipped three times \u2013 at least. Ouch! The porters told us that we should be back at the tent from the peak before lunch time. Instead, we arrived at the peak PAST lunch time and returned to the camping site just before nightfall.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-6992\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/mount-trus-madi-up-to-the-peak\/p1270061\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6992 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" title=\"P1270061\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270061.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270061.jpg 425w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1270061-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 340px) 100vw, 340px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In fact the ladies, whom I left behind with one of the porters, arrived when it was already dark. Why am I doing here anyway? I shouldn\u2019t have come here!\u201d<\/strong>. I have however heard that a lot of times not just from her but from so many people with whom I went trekking before so I wasn\u2019t surprised when the next morning she asked \u201c<strong>About your plan to Mount Tombuyukon, when was it again?\u201d<\/strong>. He he he.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So, we all settled for the night with so much satisfaction knowing that we had already achieved our goal of reaching the second highest peak in Malaysia. LOL<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-align: justify;\">After packing up, we descended to the base, this time without much difficulty. In fact I felt like dancing my way down. It\u2019s like eating an ice-cream on a hot summer day or getting a foot-massage after a long and grueling marathon. It was so relieving in a way that made me almost ejaculate right there. Kidding \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was good to have another thing ticked off the list of <strong>\u2018been there, done that\u2019<\/strong>.
