What I immediately liked about \u00a0the bus was the availability of a <em>wi-fi<\/em> which makes me feel so close to my friends and family back in Malaysia. He.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/visiting-jericho-the-oldest-city-in-the-world\/p1370188\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8227\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8227 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" alt=\"P1370188\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370188.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370188.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370188-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After settling comfortably in our seats, the bus took us further and further away from the border and deeper into the Holy Land. I was bracing for the adventure of a lifetime \u2013 except that the adventure would most likely be more visual rather than physical \ud83d\ude1b<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It took me quite some time to swallow the fact that I was indeed in the Holy Land \u2013 the land that Jesus spent all the 33 years of his life preaching from one town to another \u2013 sometimes to villages \u2013 the religion that was later known as Christianity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/visiting-jericho-the-oldest-city-in-the-world\/p1370187\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8228\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8228 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" alt=\"P1370187\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370187.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370187.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370187-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It felt even more surreal to see all the familiar names of places that were mentioned in the Bible whose existence stood testimony to the fact that whatever written in the book had indeed taken place and not merely a fairy tale (of course I am saying all these from the perspective of a Christian).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first in the program was <strong>Jericho (Yeriho)<\/strong> \u2013 the oldest city in the world. Being so old and ancient, Jericho is mentioned so many times in the Bible \u2013 even in the <strong>Old Testament<\/strong> before the birth of Jesus. It was the very first city that was conquered by <strong>Joshua<\/strong> who took over from Moses the <i>God-driven<\/i> job of bringing the people of Israel to the Promised Land after escaping slavery from the Egyptians as chronicled in <strong>the Exodus.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/visiting-jericho-the-oldest-city-in-the-world\/p1370200\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8229\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8229 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" alt=\"P1370200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370200.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370200.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370200-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Of course Joshua\u2019s march into the Promised Land together with his people was marked by their crossing the <strong>Jordan River<\/strong> which according to the Bible stopped flowing to pave way for them before continuing flowing again up until today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We were taken to see a<strong> sycamore tree<\/strong> \u2013 the tree that <strong>Zacchaues<\/strong> the tax collector climbed to get a glimpse of Jesus who was passing through the streets of Jericho. He was too short to see Jesus who was surrounded by the crowds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Of course Jesus then ended up staying at his house for the night. It was not the exact tree that Zacchaues climbed \u2013 there is no way a tree could live up to 2000 years \u2013 but at least seeing a sycamore tree which is so significant to one of the most famous characters in the bible was fair enough for me. I could at least imagine how he did it. Heh.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/visiting-jericho-the-oldest-city-in-the-world\/p1370215\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8230\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8230 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" alt=\"P1370215\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370215.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370215.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370215-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We were then taken to the <strong>Mount of Temptation<\/strong> \u2013 not exactly on the mountain but on a place where we could see the mountain where Jesus spent 40 days fasting without food and drink before he was tempted by the devil. There is now a cable car that takes visitors up to the mountain but it was not part of the program so we could only dream of doing it in probably another visit (Amen!).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/visiting-jericho-the-oldest-city-in-the-world\/p1370240\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8280\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8280 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid gray; margin-top: 3px; margin-bottom: 3px;\" alt=\"P1370240\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370240.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370240.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jipp-world.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/P1370240-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Then after taking lunch at a nearby restaurant called <strong>The Temptation Restaurant,<\/strong> we headed off towards Israel where we took our very first glimpse of the infamous wall that separates Israel from the Palestine.
