If you\u2019ve been by any chance following my blog, you might have known by now that one of my favorite things to do whenever I travel is to wake up in the wee hours and do a morning walk. I\u2019ve done it in Hanoi, Penang and Gold Coast<\/a> \u2013 just to name a few \u2013 and it has become a habit of some kind to me. I mean, in a good way of course.\"\"<\/a>I didn\u2019t let the only morning I had in Malacca to just slip by like that without taking a walk around the historic town in the wee hours, to watch the sunlight break its way across the sky above and see the locals come about their morning routines at the break of dawn. There was something exhilarating about seeing the people opening up their businesses for the day and welcoming yet another day of uncertainties.\"\"<\/a>It was an amazing experience.\u00a0 The timeless Mallaca River<\/strong> appeared to be at its calmest without the interruption of the passing boats that usually dominate the traffic of the water-way during the day and part of the night.\"\"<\/a>It was so calm and silent that the only sound that I heard was actually coming from the chirping sound of\u00a0 sparrows (or may be swift lets) from the trees on the other side of the river. There must be thousands of them all eager to welcome the coming of another day.\"\"<\/a>Even the usually bustling Jonker Street <\/strong>was dead in its silence.\"\"<\/a>It was hard to believe it\u2019d turn into something like this at night.\"\"<\/a>One of the good things about taking a walk early in the morning is the freshness of the air and the calmness of the surroundings you\u2019d tend to be more observant of things around you.\"\"<\/a>You\u2019d see more of the beauty of the town that you probably don\u2019t see during the day and night when all you\u2019re worried about is for somebody to bump into your shoulder or worst a car came crashing into your sorry butt. \"\"<\/a>You know that\u2019s quite unlikely to happen in the wee hours so you\u2019re free to roam the streets without anything to worry about at all. \"\"<\/a>It\u2019s pretty much like you\u2019ve got the town all to yourself lai dat<\/em>.. \ud83d\ude00\"\"<\/a>Except may be – the crows. You’ve got them to share the streets with. They seem to wake up earlier than any other living things in Malacca. \"\"<\/a>But then, it wouldn’t be long before you’d see passing bikes come into the picture. Most of the cyclists are elderly so most likely you\u2019d get more worried about them than yourself. \"\"<\/a>Imagine if they crashed into you and they got thrown off the bike and landed on the merciless hard asphalt road and broke their fragile bones and skull and died \u2013 OK, I\u2019m exaggerating but that is probably the only thing that you have to be worried about.\u00a0\"\"<\/a>I really thought people in Penang begin their daily life a bit late but Malacca seems to lag even way behind. Even when the sun had already brightened the whole town, the streets were still scarce of people and all. What a damn lazy town they\u2019ve got here. LOL!\"\"<\/a>OF course, there\u2019s not a better way of concluding my morning venture than having a cup of coffee. A kaw kaw<\/em> one as always. \"\"<\/a>IT always gives the perfect ending to my morning walk.\u00a0 So – yeah, morning walk will always be one of my favorite things to do whenever I go traveling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
